SUMMARY:INSPEC's 16th Annual Technical Seminar
DESCRIPTION:Register to Attend\n \n \n \nWednesday\, March 15th\, 2023 from 7:30am-1pm.  Our friends at INSPEC will be hosting this seminar at The Earle Brown Heritage Center located at 6155 Earle Brown Dr.\, Brooklyn Center\, MN 55430. This event is free but registration by March 6th is requested. \nThis is a wonderful opportunity to network with your industry peers and learn useful and up-to-date information that will help you manage your facilities. Registration and continental breakfast begins at 7:30am with welcome and program introduction at 8:15am. Seminar will conclude at 12:00pm. Help us celebrate Inspec’s 50th Anniversary with a plated lunch following the seminar and join us in a champagne toast! \nThe three educational sessions include: \n•Lessons Learned from 50 Years of Evaluating\, Designing\, and Inspecting Roofs–Learn some of the most important “lessons learned” from Inspec’s 50 years of evaluating\, designing\, and inspecting roofs. Hear from our knowledgeable experts on issues such as: How often should a roof be examined and what are the main things to look at? What are some of the most important design tips for new roofs and/or replacing existing roofs? What are common problems that occur during installation and how do you prevent those or deal with those when they happen? This session will boil down 50years of hands-on experience with roofs and give you some useful information for managing your roofs and roofing projects! \n•Condensation–The Fools Gold of Water Intrusion–When excess moisture shows up inside your building\, it is only natural to assume it came from the outside and is leak-related. However\, we are discovering that increasingly this is the result of condensation forming inside the wall system\, or “Interstitial Condensation” as opposed to water intrusion. As the emphasis on increased R-value and energy efficiency has increased\, unfortunately the same cannot be said of our industry’s awareness of interstitial condensation. Learn what interstitial condensation is\, what causes it\, and how to distinguish between such condensation and water intrusion. Also\, discover how computer modeling(WUFI) during the design phase can identify and prevent future condensation issues from occurring in your buildings. \n•Recent Building Code Changes Related to Roofs You Should Be Aware Of–Did you know that building code now requires formal structural reviews as part of many major reroofing projects? Newer energy code requires increased minimum R-values to save energy which also increases the amount of insulation on roofs as well as potentially the amount of snow that will stay on roofs during the winter. This significant added weight creates potential structural issues that\, worst case\, can cause a catastrophic roof collapse. Learn about this new code requirement and other important code issues related to your roofing projects. \nAccreditation has been applied for and is pending approval from the following organizations: American Institute of Architects (AIA) and Association of Facilities Engineering (AFE). Accredited professional development hours meet the requirements of continuing education as outlined by the MN Board of AELSAGID. Attendance may be applicable toward renewal requirements for various credentials/certifications. Check with credentialing organization. Electronic certificates will be available upon request. \n  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Event Flyer
