2020 Online Conference – 3D Building Scanning Technology, Process and Benefits

In 2019 TKDA purchased 3D Scanning equipment and has steadily been using it on client facilities ranging from education facilities to industrial facilities to tunnels.  Some of the benefits of using 3D scanning on projects allows for more accurate drawing coordination and contractor coordination; better understanding of existing building conditions and increased accuracy when limited drawings exist; and provides a better understanding of complex mechanical and electrical conditions and areas within buildings that are difficult to verify. The presentation will provide attendees with an overview of the 3D Scanning Process, Product Output, and Benefits to the owner as well as some shortcomings of existing technology.
